DOVER, Del. —- With the annual Holiday break over, a pair of feature handicap events, a $30,000 Preferred and a $27,500 Delaware Special, headline the return to harness racing on Monday, Dec.28 at Dover Downs. Post time is 4:30 p.m.
Henderson Farms' Bushwacker and Corey Callahan won the last Preferred feature with a wire-to-wire 1:50.3 performance with Rich Poilluco's Dapper Dude, driven by Vic Kirby, and Atta Boy Dan, owned by Weaver Bruscemi and Burke Racing, third. This time Yannick Gingras, who won five races two weeks ago, will drive.
Lou Rascello's Phil Your Boots was outstanding winning the Open in 1:49.1 for his second straight success, will be driven Montrell Teague, again starting from outside post 7.Bamond Racing's Snap To It A with Brett Miller drew the rail with Mike Hill's Eridanus N and Ross Wolfenden, alongside. Sparky Mark, claimed recently by Foulk Stables for $50,000 makes his local debut driven by Jonathan Roberts.
Janet Hudson's Just A Jolt (Kirby), a winner of the last $27,500 Delaware Special Handicap from post 7, starts from post 8 this time. To his left is Rusty Carter and trainer Doug Lewis' Captive Audience (Callahan) who has been at the top of his game in recent months. For the second straight start, R.A.Hazzard, G.P.Callahan and Legacy Racing's Sweet Rock (Allan Davis) has the rail and Max Walton and Greg Papaleo's Mustang Art (Brett Miller), post 2 next to Kovach Stable's Feel Like A Fool (Ross Wolfenden).
The rest of the field includes Joan Dalphon and Elanor Laws' Don't Ya Know (Gingras), Mary Ann Laramore's Believe This Bob (Roberts) and owner-trainer Bobby Myers Pinerosa (Tony Morgan) stepping up after a 1:51.1 victory.
An $18,500 3,,4&5-Year-Old Open Handicap pace, led by Collura, Weaver Bruscemi and Burke Racing's Journeyman (Gingras) and driver Art Stafford Jr and trainer Andrew Stafford's Framed Art, both winners in their last start, lead a nine horse field.
The undercard includes two $15,000 a $14,500 and a $14,000 pace.
This week's racing schedule is Tuesday and Wednesday cards beginning at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday, Saturday are dark days.
Sunday racing in January and February features post time of 5:30 p.m. The weekday program, Mondays through Thursdays begin with post time at 4:30 p.m.
A $5,000 Guaranteed Pick-4 Pool Is a daily feature.
