No sooner had Pukekohe harness racing trainer Angela Purdon got Blinding Light sorted out and running up to his potential, the phone started to ring with agents hot on the trail of the son of Charles Bronson.
Part owner Les Purdon wasn't that keen to part with Blinding Light and was far more disposed to keep racing him but an offer from leading southern agent Peter Larkin was too good to turn down.
" I didn't think Peter had the physique to play Santa Claus but he had the cheque book and that is what mattered."
" I have a big opinion of Blinding Light and he wasn't cheap but I think both parties will do well out of the sale," Les said.
Les was looking forward to racing Blinding Light at Cambridge today where the gelding had drawn barrier two and had the bonus of Dexter Dunn in the bike.
But Peter Larkin was keen to complete the sale before Christmas.
" Peter flew up from Christchurch yesterday and had the horse vetted and the money was transacted soon after.
" It was good to deal with someone who completed the sale so promptly."
" The horse is heading to Perth in Australia and I think he will do a huge job for his new owners."
" He has really high speed and can stay so he has a big future," Les said.
Angela Purdon has built up a reputation of really looking after her horses with the result that when they are on sold to Australia they usually do a great job.
The latest example is the Mach Three mare Atomic Blonde who took a time of 1:52.1 at Menangle recently.
Another horse that Les moved to Anglea's care a few months back was Aquickone and she is really pleasing her new trainer.
The winner of three from eighteen, the daughter of Elsu looks a ready made replacement for Blinding Light.
